This leadership development series was hosted live for Winning Futures on July 14th and 15th, 2026. The course is available online until July 31, 2027. Trauma-Informed Leadership for Youth Development Leaders: With chaos swirling around us and our clients experiencing increasing levels of hardship, the need for Trauma-Informed Leadership (TIL) is more urgent than ever. In this session, leaders will be introduced to the 5 Principles of TIL, which serve as a secret toolkit to preventing and overcoming people + culture challenges. Leaders will learn to understand common behaviors as trauma responses and discover how they can apply the 5 Principles of TIL to real-life administrative situations, including difficult accountability scenarios. Participants will leave with increased motivation and practical tools to create an engaged, inclusive, and high-performing organization amidst all the unknowns of the current climate. This session will involve large group, small group, and individual reflection. Getting 'Unstuck': Strategic Communication for Accountability & Engagement Holding staff accountable is one of the most challenging responsibilities that leaders face. These conversations can feel awkward and emotionally charged—sometimes leading to defensiveness, tears, or polite agreement without real change. In this session, participants will first explore the boundary spectrum (loose to rigid) and 4 modes of communication. Then, they will learn 3 specific tools of assertive communication to support accountability. Finally, participants will apply these practices to common management scenarios, including: how to hold staff accountable when they are experiencing a personal hardship, how to hold staff accountable when they may be older/more experienced/more senior than you, and how to hold staff accountable when there are complex concerns about equity at play.
